Oklahoma Ice Storm 2010

Our area has been without power since last Thursday, so BOY, do I have some preparedness posts for you guys later!! Here are some pictures from our area:

We're still without power, but we've acquired a generator and have a gas fireplace so we're getting by quite well. I'll post more later on!

Crazy! Those are some great pictures. I love the last one with the ice on the branches.
Hope you are all hanging in there!

Looks just like our area twice in the last few years. We're still burning firewood from the first storm! Glad you have a generator and glad you're doing okay.

So glad you guys are doing ok and are staying warm. I was thinking the same thing about preparedness. We were without power for nearly 3 days and have been told we will likely lose power again within the next 24 hours while they do some emergency work. Praying for you guys to get electriicity back soon.

Blessings,
sara

Oh my! Reminds me of the freak storm we had in Houston when I was about 13....a week without power and ended up keeping everything from the fridge on the porch for a while! By the time they restored power, it was warmer outside than in the house!

That explains why we haven't heard much from you. :)

We had some crazy ice a couple years ago. A tree landed on our roof and another on the power lines just before our house. It was a dark and cold 4 days! We were thankful for the generator we borrowed to keep our freezers going!

Play Risk by candle light... it's a blast! Very moody! :)

Oh, goodness. We used to suffer ice storms in the mountains of Virginia. This looks devastating, and you have to be so careful about playing outside, so you are stuck indoors, unlike after a big snow. A huge oak tree almost fell on one of our children after one of the big ice storms. He scrambled out of the way just in time. One time we were without power for five days. It was cold and uncomfortable, and we had to leave once we ran out of running water, and move into someone's basement. We had just moved to the area and hardly knew them. I hated ice storms. The only nice thing about them is how beautifully the ice twinkles on the trees on a sunny day, like Christmas lights of every color in the prism. Hang in there! Beth
